Single Malt Scotch Whisky

HOLD NO.5 – Drink Up

Label Story

Gaelic “Slange Var” means “Cheers”, and is a phrase used in drinking.  When custom officer McColl starts searching the villages, the local residents know that they won’t get away with it, but they are also reluctant to give up.  They figure out a good solution, which is drink the whisky up.  McColl is certainly not happy with it, and he even prosecutes some of the residents, though these residents only paid 3-5 pounds fine eventually.  The residents take approximately 24,000 bottles of whisky, and the custom has to blow up the ship after salvages, in order to prevent the residents continuing entering into the ship.

Distillery Introduction

Tobermory is the only distillery on Mull island.  The distillery was founded by John Sinclair in 1798, and completed the establishment in 1823.  The distillery was closed in 1930s, and reopened in 1972, and changed the name to “Ledaig”.  The main production of the distillery was peated whisky, therefore, the peated whisky called Ledaig, and non-peated whisky called Tobermory, in order to have a clear distinction.
