About King Arthur Series

King Arthur single cask collection is the first independent bottler in Greater China, PICT, self-owned brand, Or Sileis, single cask selection. It’s finely selected by Julie Lee, the judge of London area of IWSC. There are 12 casks in total in the whole collection, and planned to complete the selection within 2 years. The volume of each cask is varied, and each of them is cherry on top.

Or Sileis art director, Paul Houlders, has worked for the biggest on line game company, Electronic Arts. One of his famous works is “Battlefield 1”. With his great creativity, the label artwork of King Arthur collection will have more whisky lovers collect each cask.

Label Story

Mordred, King Arthur’s nephew, breaks his promise to the king, and occupies the kingdom of Camelot. He spreads the rumor that the king has died during the war, and intends to marry Guinevere. King Arthur hears the news and heads back to Britain immediately, and have a discussion with the knights. Both sides have great casualties, and King Arthur himself injured seriously as well.

King Arthur realizes that his time has come, and only Bedivere survives in the war. King Arthur asks Bedivere to throw the Caliburn into the lake. Bedivere knows that once he throws the sword into the lake, it means the end of his king’s life. He gives up two times and lies to King Arthur that the Caliburn has thrown into the lake. However, his king knows that he is lying, and Bedivere comes to the lake for the third time, and makes up his mind tossing the Caliburn into the lake, and the Lady of the lake accepts the Caliburn. Bedivere returns to his king and accompanies him until he died.

Distillery Introduction

Laphroaig distillery is located on the north of Islay, and owns more than two hundred years of history. Laphroaig whisky represents the classic Islay whisky since the distillery endures the strongest wind of Islay for so many years, and the distillation has never changed since its establishment in 1895. The distillery is also the first independent whisky distillery run by a woman in Scotland history. After the original owner, Ian Hunter, passed away in 1954, his wife, Bessie took over the distillery. She insists on maintaining the tradition, and before her retirement in 1972, the distillery continues the traditional floor malting process. 25% of the malt is from the distillery itself, and the rest 75% is from Port Ellen. The water source is Kilbride Dame, which it’s a peaty soft water, and makes the whisky have sophisticate and various taste. New make spirit is 25 ppm, which is medium level. 99% of Laphroaig whisky is first fill bourbon, sherry cask is very rare.

【Tasting Note】

You are able to feel a tasty flavor of cured meat in the beginning, and it transforms into a wood note of China fir. In addition, it comes with dried fruits underneath, and subtleness of menthol. The mouth feel is the salty cured fish, and accompanied by the impact of ash. The finish is slightly dry of wood and spices.
