About King Arthur Series
King Arthur single cask collection is the first independent bottler in Greater China, PICT, self-owned brand, Or Sileis, single cask selection. It’s finely selected by Julie Lee, the judge of London area of IWSC. There are 12 casks in total in the whole collection, and planned to complete the selection within 2 years. The volume of each cask is varied, and each of them is cherry on top.
Or Sileis art director, Paul Houlders, has worked for the biggest on line game company, Electronic Arts. One of his famous works is “Battlefield 1”. With his great creativity, the label artwork of King Arthur collection will have more whisky lovers collect each cask.
Label Story
The giant living in the cave of Mont. St-Mitchel is very vicious and violent. He kills the residents down the mountain and abducts the daughter of Duke of Hoel. The Duke of Hoel asks King Arthur for help, and hopes the king will fight the giant. King Arthur accepts the challenge, and he was courageous against the giant. Although the giant manages to avoid his attack, his eyebrow is still cut by King Arthur’s sword, and the blood covers his eyes. King Arthur takes the chance and manages to kill the giant, and takes his head back to the kingdom, to prove that justice always wins.
Distillery Introduction
Caol Ila was founded by Hector Henderson from Glasgow in 1846. The name stems from the inspiration of the sound of sea breezes on the island and boats by the sea. Caol Ila means “the sound of Islay” in Gaelic. The distillery had been closed two times before 1945, but had a great increase in the 70s due to the global high demand of whisky, and had an expansion in 1972. The distillery increased 6 stills instead of original two, in order to have great capacity of production. Due to the high demand of blended whisky, the distillery did a total renovation in 1974 in order to meet the market need. It makes Caol Ila the biggest distillery in Islay, and the distillery is currently one of the distilleries of Diageo.
Caol Ila whisky represents the classic flavor of Islay, which is heavy peat smoke, and sea salt flavor which is like a sea breeze blowing to the rock by the sea. It is very distinct from other Speyside whisky, whose signature flavor is floral and fruity note. Caol Ila whisky enables you to feel the variety and appealingness of whisky.
