【NO.3 – Sir Bors & the Sable Knight】
About King Arthur Series
King Arthur single cask collection is the first independent bottler in Greater China, PICT, self-owned brand, Or Sileis, single cask selection. It’s finely selected by Julie Lee, the judge of London area of IWSC. There are 12 casks in total in the whole collection, and planned to complete the selection within 2 years. The volume of each cask is varied, and each of them is cherry on top.
Or Sileis art director, Paul Houlders, has worked for the biggest on line game company, Electronic Arts. One of his famous works is “Battlefield 1”. With his great creativity, the label artwork of King Arthur collection will have more whisky lovers collect each cask.
Label Story
Sir Bors is one of the famous King Arthur’s roundtable knights, and Launcelot’s favorite nephew. He is one of the three knights found the holy grail for King Arthur, and the only survivor as well. On the journey of searching for the holy grail, God gave Sir Bors the first test is to fight against sable knight. Bors won the fight, but did not kill the sable knight in order to express the true spirit of a knight.
Distillery Introduction
In order to settle the tenant farmers who were evicted by Duke Sutherland in the early 19th century, the landowner Marquis Stafford built up a whisky distillery called Clynelish on the land of north highland in 1819. Clynelish means “an isolated meadowland” in Gaelic. The distillery has always have a great reputation, Harper’s Weekly gave the distillery a high credit in 1896: “it is always able to sell in the highest price in the category of single malt Scotch whisky.
The distillery changed the owner later, and John Walker & Sons purchased half of the share in 1916; Clynelish has been growing stably in a corporate company. Diageo built up a new distillery with an identical still type on the same location, and set up three pairs (six individual) stills to replace the old ones originally; however, both new and old distilleries are able to coexist. Therefore, there were two Clynelish distilleries between 1968 to 1983. In order to distinguish the two Clynelish distilleries, the old one changed to the name of Brora, and was closed in 1983. The new one remains the name of Clynelish and is now nicknamed “Bobcat” by whisky fans.
Clynelish has a great production capacity due to its three pairs of stills, and is also a long term supplier of Johnnie Walker blended whisky base liquid. Among all the distilleries Diageo own, Clynelish is the only one able to provide oily wax flavor malt whisky, which is irreplaceable. Diageo expanded the distillery in 2015, and increased stills from 6 to 12, in order to enhance its capacity. Despite the distinguishable oil wax flavor, Clynelish is also famous for its beautiful floral and fruity scents, saltiness of sea water, and a hint of smoky flavor.

- Nose：Fresh sea breeze and saltiness of sea water.
- Palate：Many layers of multiple spices, which is rich and full, and transforms into a mature bitter sweet flavor of dark chocolate.
- Finish：Classic oceanic note, as if walking by the market on the seaside- strong oceanic smell, salty sea water and countless shoals of fish swim toward you to feel their energy.
- It is a whisky with complex flavors and depth.
